Active
in the sector of industrial minerals, Perlite Canada inc. is specialized
in the production, transformation and marketing of crude and expanded
perlite and vermiculite.
It is the only completely integrated company of its kind in Canada.
Along with
its production activities, the company is working with different other
companies on the development of new perlite-based
products, mainly concrete, blockwork and firestop panels. Perlite Canada
inc. is presently in the final testing phase, and looking at the possibility
of marketing one of these products in the near future.

In
Spring of 2002, the company completed the construction of a new plant in
New Brunswick, in order to satisfy the demand of peat moss producers from
Eastern Canada. With this new unit, Perlite Canada inc. is anticipating a
30% increase in annual sales for perlite and vermiculite
products until 2003. Other than New Brunswick, Perlite Canada inc. is
examining other expansion projects in other parts of Canada, particularly
in Ontario and in the United States in order to increase its presence in
these markets. Perlite Canada inc. through its distributors already has a relatively
good presence in Ontario and it is at the early stage of penetration of the
Northeastern US market. |

Along with its three employees at its head office on Lebeau Boulevard in
Saint-Laurent, on the island of Montreal, the company owns a production facility
in Baie-du-Febvre, situated close to its main target markets in Canada and the
United States and a production facility in Lameque, New Brunswick close to one
of its main clients, peatmoss producers.
With its three
furnaces and 26 employees, in two facilities The combined production capacity
of Perlite Canada is now close to 3.5 million cubic feet of
perlite
and of vermiculite.
Perlite Canada's unique transformation and expansion process allows for a
completely expanded finished product, less dusty and thus of superior quality.
Perlite Canada inc. uses railway and road transportation to supply its customers
more rapidly at a lower cost.
