MONTREAL, QUEBEC - Perlite Canada Inc. (the "company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Joyal to the position of Executive Vice-President of the company. Mr. Joyal will begin his new job on November 5, 2007.

Martin Joyal is a member of the Quebec Bar, and has been a director of the company since 2001. Having sat on the Board of Directors for several years, Mr. Joyal has an in-depth knowledge of the principal issues facing the company. He joins the management team to assist it with the management and execution of the company's projects and to support the growth of company activities.

From April 2005 to September 2007, Martin Joyal was a core member of the management team for a major telephone directory publishing company with shares trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Before April 2005, he was an associate at a major Montreal law firm, where he specialized in business law, corporate financing, and mergers and acquisitions.

Perlite Canada Inc. specializes in the transformation, distribution and sale of Perlite and Vermiculite, minerals used in the horticultural and industrial sectors.

The common shares of Perlite Canada Inc. are listed for trading on the TSX Venture Exchange.
