PERLITE CANADA ANNOUNCES THE PASSING OF 
MR. LOUIS-MARIE DEMERS
January 27th, 2010

Montreal, January 27, 2010--Perlite Canada inc. (the "Company") is profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Louis-Marie Demers, Director of the Company, on December 31, 2009. Funeral services have been held on January 5, 2010 in Saint-Felicien (Quebec).

All members of the Company wish to offer their deepest sympathy to the family, parents and friends.

The management team wishes also to extend its sincere gratitude to late Mr. Demers for his judgement and sound counsels and his support to the Company.

Perlite Canada Inc. specializes in the processing, distribution and sale of perlite and vermiculite, two minerals used in industry and horticulture.
